How I will work with you:
- Buoy up local social enterprises / small businesses to counter lack of employment opportunities especially during the recession.
- Harness employers support by setting up apprenticeship schemes and employability workshops to raise the aspirations, skills and prospects of the long term unemployed and young people.
- Continue to campaign for London to keep its business rates so that it can be used to tackle pressing issues such as child poverty.
- Develop a more rounded approach to education – encouraging more parental inclusion and participation in their children’s schooling – to raise the level of achievement amongst children that is beyond test league tables.
- Fight for more secondary school places in the constituency.
- Support ex offenders to find their positive role within the society – and offer them concrete routes to learning and employment.
